BBBP schemewas launched on 22nd January, 2015 aims to prevent Gender biased sex selective elimination, ensure survival and protection of girl child and also to ensure education of the girl child. Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) is a component of SAMBAL sub-scheme under Mission Shakti and implemented across all the districts of the country through multi-sectoral interventions. Ministry has developed a thematic calendar for suggested convergence activities at district level with month wise specific themes for holistic development of the Girl Child.
Nari Adalat, is a component of the "Sambal" sub-scheme under Mission Shakti which aims for providing women with an alternate Grievance Redressal Mechanism for resolving cases of petty nature (harassment, subversion, curtailment of rights or entitlements) faced by them at Gram panchayat level by negotiation, mediation, and reconciliation with mutual consent for speedy, accessible, and affordable justice. Nari Adalat is also used as a platform for awareness of right, entitlements, social facilitation and hand holding of women centric organizations. Scheme is being run in the 50 Gram Panchayats each in the State of Assam and UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
WHL is a component of Sambal vertical under Mission Shakti, aims to provide 24x7x365 emergency and non-emergency response through telephonic short-code 181 to women, both in public and private spaces by linking them with appropriate authorities such as Police, One Stop Centres, Hospitals, Legal Services Authorities etc. Additionally, it provides information about women welfare schemes and programs.
The Government of India has decided to provide the day-care creche facilities through the component of Palna. Anganwadi centres are the world's largest childcare institutions dedicated to providing essential care and support to children ensuring delivery of care facilities till the last mile. This will ensure whole day childcare support ensuring their well-being in a safe and secure environment. The objective of Palna component is to provide quality creche facility in safe and secure environment for children.
The Government of India is implementing Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) across the country through State Governments/Union Territory Administrations with effect from 1st January 2017. With the introduction of Mission Shakti, with effect from 01.04.2022, PMMVY is a component of the Samarthya vertical of Mission Shakti under which cash incentives of ₹5,000/- is provided in two instalments directly to the Aadhaar seeded Bank/Post Office account of the beneficiary in Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode for first child and ₹6,000/- is provided in one installment post birth through DBT mode for the second child subject to second child is girl in accordance with Mission Shakti Scheme Guidelines.
The objective of the Scheme is to provide safe, secure, conveniently located, and affordable accommodation for women who are in the workforce and/or aspire to join the workforce. Under the Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the States/UTs for running of Sakhi Niwas in rented premises. The scheme also makes a provision of Day Care Centre for children of the residents of the Sakhi Niwas.
Under the overarching ‘Mission Shakti’, erstwhile schemes of ‘Swadhar Greh’ for women in difficult circumstances and ‘Ujjawala Home’ for Prevention of Trafficking, have been merged and known as ‘Shakti Sadan Scheme’, which is an Integrated Relief and Rehabilitation Home for women in distressful situations including trafficked women. It aims at creating a safe and enabling environment for the women in such difficult situations, to enable them to overcome the adverse circumstances. Under the Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the States/UTs for running of Shakti Sadan in rented premises.
The SANKALP : HEW (Hub for Empowerment of Women) is one such initiative, under the ambit of Mission Shakti, that will serve as a vehicle to bridge the information and knowledge gap regarding schemes and facilities available for women as well as guide them to avail the benefits and entitlements. The SANKALP: HEW will also serve as a Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) for all components under Mission Shakti and will work in convergence with the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme .
It has two sub-schemes – 'Sambal' and 'Samarthya'.
In the Sambal sub scheme, which is for safety and security of women, the existing scheme of One Stop Centre (OSC), Women Helpline (WHL), Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) have been included with modifications and a new component of Nari Adalat – women collective has been added.
In the Samarthya sub scheme, which is for empowerment of women, existing schemes of Ujjwala, SwadharGreh and Working Women Hostel have been included with modifications. In addition, the existing schemes of National Creche Scheme and PMMVY under umbrella 6 ICDS have now been included in Samarthya. A new component of Gap Funding for Economic Empowerment has also been added in the Samarthya Scheme. The existing subschemes of Mahila Shakti Kendra (MSK) and Mahila Police Volunteers (MPV) have been discontinued.
